Chapter 1: A Meeting of Minds
In 1984, I found myself in a long queue at a bookstore, filled with excitement to meet the legendary David Attenborough. As a recent Biology graduate, I had the privilege of presenting him with a cherished copy of “Life on Earth,” instead of his latest release, “The Living Planet.”
When I approached him, he appeared slightly taken aback, as I was expected to bring his new book for an autograph. Nevertheless, driven by determination to secure his signature, I handed him “Life on Earth.” I will always remember the warmth in his sparkling eyes and the attentive expression on his face as I shared my academic journey with him. “I hope that goes well for you,” he encouraged, kindly signing the inside cover of the book. Sigh. I truly admire David Attenborough, affectionately calling him “the Bro” — a brother to all life on Earth. I sometimes wish for a miraculous potion to keep him with us eternally.
