Engaging in new activities can often feel intimidating and perilous; this is where self-limiting beliefs come into play.
Today, I ventured to the gym equipped with a camera and tripod, only to find my mind flooded with apprehensions: “What if others stare at me?” or “What if the equipment fails?” I thought to myself, “This feels too risky!”
But then, I questioned myself. Is it really that risky to bring a camera to the gym? That realization pushed me to proceed, and the outcome was positive—nobody paid me any mind, and I captured exactly what I needed.
In reality, the greatest risk often lies in doing nothing at all. More frequently than not, the only barrier to achieving your goals is... you.
It may sound naïve, but it’s an undeniable truth. For two weeks, I hesitated to start writing on Medium. Months passed before I finally created an Instagram account dedicated to content creation, and it took me over a year to begin sharing my work on various social media platforms.
The primary reason for my delays was a single factor: self-limiting beliefs. Thoughts like, “What will others think?”, “It won’t succeed,” and “It’s too dangerous,” plagued me. But I decided to challenge those beliefs. Whenever such doubts arose, I began asking myself: “Is this true?”
Our minds often steer us toward comfort rather than success. Seeking short-term comfort can lead to long-term dissatisfaction. At times, you must take that leap of faith because, more often than not, what seems risky is merely an illusion.
